How Much Does It Cost to Travel to Europe in 2025

How much does it cost to travel to Europe according to your budget is the focus of this article we’ve written. We’ll tell you everything.

Every trip to Europe requires some planning, and one of the main questions that arises is how much you need to spend to travel to Europe.

Of course, there isn’t a single answer, since it depends on several factors: the country of origin, the cities you want to visit, planned excursions, and the number of transports you take to move from one place to another.

To give you a reference, in this article we’ll explain how much it costs to travel to Europe for 15 days, which is one of the most common questions for travelers coming from Latin America.

From our side, we’ll share everything based on our experience living in Europe and traveling through most of its countries. Let’s get started!

How much does a flight ticket to Europe cost

This depends heavily on your country of origin. Let’s take as a reference direct flights from the United States, Mexico, Colombia, and Argentina.

  • How much does it cost to travel to Europe from New York in United States: € 200 to € 300
  • How much does it cost to travel to Europe from Los Angeles in United States: € 450 to € 550
  • How much does it cost to travel to Europe from Canada: € 450 to € 550

These are approximate prices, since you also have to consider the time of travel. In Europe’s high season (July and August) and late December for Christmas, prices are higher than the rest of the year.

Another factor that influences the airfare to Europe is how far in advance you book. In most cases, booking at least six months ahead is cheaper than buying later. The savings can be up to 20%.

Finally, if you have more time to travel to Europe, one way to save money is by taking connecting flights. Of course, this means spending more time getting to Europe—at least one extra day—but you could save up to 30% compared to a direct flight.

How much money do I need for traveling within Europe (transport between cities or countries)

Thanks to the rise of low-cost airlines like Ryanair, EasyJet, Wizz Air, or Vueling, flying between European cities can be cheaper than traveling by train or bus.

Even if you’re planning to travel 15 days around Europe covering many kilometers, the most convenient way will often be by plane, except when traveling within the same country (for example, Madrid–Barcelona, Rome–Florence, or Paris–Brussels), where the train might be better.

Depending on the season, you can find flights within Europe for €20–30 per leg without luggage. Normally, a flight with luggage included shouldn’t cost more than €60–80.

With low-cost airlines, prices are always per leg; there’s no discount for round trips. Also, make sure to check what the fare includes (baggage, priority boarding, seat selection, meals, etc.).

Another option for getting around Europe is by train. Most Western European countries have high-speed trains, so trips take about 1.5 to 2 hours. There’s also the Interrail pass, which allows you to travel across several European countries with the same ticket, without paying extra for each route.

Finally, buses are only recommended for short distances. They’re uncomfortable, the price isn’t much cheaper than trains or flights, and the travel time is much longer.

How much do tours and excursions in Europe cost in 2025

Tours and excursions in Europe typically cost between €20 and €35 on average. The budget you’ll need depends on how many tours you want to take during your 15-day trip.
