Day 1 & 2: Seville, the main city of Andalusia

There is nothing better than starting the route in the majestic city of Seville. One of the most important cities in Spain with many attractions to discover.

As soon as you approach the historic centre, you will see the Cathedral of Seville and its Giralda tower. Just opposite is one of the Moorish legacies, the Real Alcázar with its architecture of arches, courtyards and tiles.

📷 Book the tour of the Alcazar, the Cathedral and the Giralda with entrance tickets included here. You will tour the three most important monuments of Seville with an English speaking guide who will explain all the details. The best thing? Including tickets!

The walk through the historic centre can be continued along the Santa Cruz neighbourhood, the old Jewish Quarter with its narrow streets, the Plaza de España and the Maria Luisa Park, to continue along the banks of the Guadalquivir river and into the famous Triana neighbourhood, where Andalusian traditions continue to be handed down from generation to generation.

If you want to enjoy tapas and beer at night, what better place to do it than in the Alameda area, where the youthful atmosphere can be felt. Finally, if you go with children, a good option is to go to the Isla de la Cartuja and enjoy the Isla Mágica theme park, where fun is guaranteed.

Day 3: Cadiz, its beaches and monuments

Cadiz has the particularity of being joined to the mainland by a small strip of sand. On the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, it stands out for its wide beaches such as the Victoria or Santa María, and a smaller one called La Caleta, the closest to the historic centre and surrounded by two old fortifications.

Apart from swimming in the sea and watching the sunset from the sand, Cádiz has many walks to do: one is the Genovés park, a green space that looks like a botanical garden because of the great variety of plants and trees , and the other one is the avenue Campos del Sur, on the seafront, with fantastic views of the Cathedral and the city centre.

📷 If you want a tour that explains everything about the city, we recommend you to take a guided tour of Cadiz.

You can also look out over the city and the sea from various viewpoints. The Tavira Tower is one of them and the viewpoint between cathedrals is the other point to marvel at the surroundings of Cadiz.

Day 4: Setenil de las Bodegas and Ronda, towns to see in Andalusia in 10 days

The peculiarity of Setenil de las Bodegas lies in its location, as it was built on the canyon of the river Guadalporcún, and therefore, many of the white houses that make up this village have the rocky wall as their roof. The most famous street of the place and the one that seems to be the cover image in many articles is Cueva del Sol, full of bars with terraces and where the shadow produced by the rock on the street allows the temperature to be not so high. Ideal for a cold beer!

Ronda is one of those magical villages, nestled in a gorge through which the waters of the river Guadalevín flow. The Puente Nuevo is its great symbol, built in the 18th century and more than 100 metres high, it is the one that imposes elegance.

The town has more places to visit such as the Santa María la Mayor church, the Socorro square, the bullring and the viewpoints overlooking the mountainous surroundings such as the Balcón del Coño.

Day 5 and 6: Malaga and all its splendour along the coastline

Malaga is worth at least two days. Nestled on the shores of the Mediterranean, its port is one of the most important in Spain, a place to stroll and have a drink or a bite to eat in the gastronomic establishments. Next to the port, the Malagueta beach is a wide sandy area to relax, together with the Malaga Park, a large garden with fountains, sculptures and palm trees.

In the historic centre are the Cathedral and two ancient fortifications, the Gibralfaro Castle and the Alcazaba, both with spectacular views of the city and the Mediterranean Sea. If you are looking for cultural activities, the Picasso Museum is the city’s reference point with works by the local artist.

The surroundings of Malaga also have their attractions, especially the Costa del Sol with its beaches and the glamour of Marbella.

Nerja is situated by the sea. Its main attraction is the so-called Balcón de Europa, a viewpoint that seems to plunge into the sea with beautiful views. If you’ve watched the series Verano Azul, another place you can’t miss is Chanquete’s boat.

Nerja also has a large number of beaches and coves for relaxation. In the surrounding area, you can visit the Cahorros del río Chillar or the caves.

Frigiliana, just seven kilometres from Nerja, is one of the most beautiful white villages in Andalusia. Narrow, cobbled and ascending streets give it the appearance that attracts visitors.

The flowers and flowerpots that adorn the exterior of the houses add to its unequalled beauty. The views of the mountains and the sea from the viewpoints are not to be missed.

Day 8: Granada, a must-see in Andalusia in 10 days

Granada is synonymous with the Alhambra, the ancient Nasrid fortress with its palaces, gates and gardens that towers high on the hill. This spectacular monument is a World Heritage Site and one of the essential things to see in Andalusia in 10 days. Its beauty is striking, both in the architecture and in the details of the fountains, walls and ceilings.

But not everything in Granada is La Alhambra. The Albaicín neighbourhood has maintained its traditional character of low white-painted houses, narrow sloping streets and a strong local accent. Here you can breathe flamenco and you have one of the best postcards of the Alhambra from the viewpoint of San Nicolas.

📷 Don’t miss the details of your visit by booking this tour of the Alhambra. Including tickets!

Finally, the historic centre of Granada is home to the Cathedral of Santa María de la Encarnación and the Royal Chapel of Granada, where the remains of Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand are housed. For shopping, there is nothing better than La Alcaicería, a kind of street market where locals sell handicrafts, souvenirs and other objects.

The Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos is another of the great monuments to see in Cordoba and the place where the kings met with Cristobal Colon before he set out on his voyage to discover the American continent. The gardens, rooms and ramparts overlooking the city are the main attractions of this fortress.
